Definition

Scheduling is a yard activity that involves the scheduling of a yard location for a vehicle.

Use

Scheduling activities can be created, using any of the following tools:

·        Yard monitor (yard manager)

For more information, see Creating a Scheduling Activity.

·        Yard alert monitor (yard manager)

For more information, see Alert Monitor Troubleshooting Tools.

·        Yard scheduling chart (yard manager and any other users)

For more information, see Creating a Scheduling Activity.

...

·        Checkpoint tool (checkpoint operators)

For more information, see Using the Checkpoint Tool.

·        Loading/unloading point tool

For more information, see Using the Loading/Unloading Point Tool.

When creating a scheduling activity using the monitor, alert monitor, checkpoint tool or loading/unloading point tool, the scheduling is performed based on the system’s scheduling mechanism . When creating a scheduling activity using the scheduling chart, you manually determine the scheduling times and location.

Normally, a scheduling activity is created at a door. However, if you have defined scheduling profiles for doors and staging areas, a scheduling activity will be created also at a staging area. A scheduling activity will be created at the door’s related staging area if you have done one of the following:

                            a.      Defined door-staging area group relationships in Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Yard Management ® Location Determination and Scheduling ® Define Location Group Relationships

                            b.      Assigned doors to staging areas and vice versa in Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Yard Management ® Yard Map ® Define Doors/Staging Areas

In the case of inbound vehicles, the start time of the scheduling activity at the staging area will be the same as the start time of the scheduling activity at the door. In the case of outbound vehicles, the end time of the scheduling activity at the staging area will be the same as the end time of the scheduling activity at the door. The duration of the scheduling activity at the staging area is determined from the scheduling profile.

When a scheduling activity is created, the following occurs:

·        The scheduling activity is given the status of 1 Planned. Its status changes as follows:

¡        To 2 Started  when the subsequent movement activity to the door is confirmed

¡        To 4 Completed  when the subsequent movement activity from the door is confirmed

¡        To 6 Vehicle departed  when the vehicle is checked-out of the yard

·        The relevant delivery is updated with the scheduled door/staging area.
