Process documentation Label Data Editing Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

Labels are required for different purposes in an enterprise. The labels that are required therefore depend on the product to be labeled, its properties, and its packaging.

Example

For dangerous chemicals you require labels that contain hazard symbols and safety information. Labels with dangerous goods symbols and information must also appear on the transport packaging.

Furthermore, in certain cases specific labels are required for individual customers. This process describes how to create all of this data for labels.

Prerequisites

You have edited the required IMG activities in Customizing for Global Label Management, Basic Data and Tools, and Dangerous Goods Management.

Process Flow

...

       1.      You create the necessary data in the SAP Basic Data and Tools and Dangerous Goods Management components. For example:

¡        Structure linkReport templates for the labels (see Structure linkDocument Template Editing)

Note

You can also specify Structure linkreport symbols on the report templates for Global Label Management and the system can derive their values from other report symbol values and settings in Customizing. This is known as secondary value determination. For more information see Customizing for Global Label Management under Specify Secondary Value Determination for Report Symbols.

¡        Specification data (see Structure linkSpecification Editing)

¡        Dangerous goods master data (see Structure linkDangerous Goods Master Editing)

       2.      You create the label stocks.

       3.      You create the Structure linkgeneration variants in the SAP Basic Data and Tools component and assign the following objects to them:

...

                            a.      You assign a label category as a report category.

                            b.      You assign a label stock as an object of the report application LABELSTOCK.

                            c.      If dangerous goods regulations are to be printed on the label, assign the dangerous goods regulations to the generation variant.

       4.      You create the label data in the material master:

...

                            a.      You create all required packaging units as alternative units of measure.

                            b.      You enter the label data and specify the packaging hierarchy.

       5.      You create customer-specific labels.

Result

You have entered all the data required for the system to determine labels automatically and to print them afterwards (see Manual Label Printing).
