A sales order is created in SAP CRM. This leads to the creation of an unchecked delivery in SAP Service Parts Management (SPM) in ERP and a sales requirement in SAP APO. The unchecked delivery is communicated to SAP EWM, but SAP EWM cannot process it until SAP SPM converts it into a checked delivery. When SAP SPM converts the unchecked delivery to a checked delivery, Available-to-Promise (ATP) generates a delivery requirement from the sales requirement. At this stage in the process, the stock situation does not change in SAP EWM, SAP SPM, or SAP APO. The checked delivery is communicated to SAP EWM. In SAP EWM, a transfer order for picking is created for the outbound delivery. When this transfer order is created, the available quantity in the storage bin in which the material is currently held is reduced by the transfer quantity. The physical stock quantity in SAP EWM is only reduced when the transfer order has been executed, that is to say, when the material has been picked from the storage bin. The physical stock in SAP SPM and SAP APO is only reduced upon posting of the goods issue.
