Background documentation Evaluation of Change Pointers Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The Change pointer evaluation indicator allows you to specify for both filling and distribution that only newly created or changed data records are to be taken into account.

You also have the option in both filling and distribution of explicitly selecting data records. If you do not select specific records, the system selects all data records.

A number of different filling and distribution scenarios result from these selection options, which can serve various different purposes:

If you set the Change pointer evaluation indicator during filling and at the same time choose a selection date that is not the current date, or if you enter additional selection criteria for dangerous goods classification, real substance, and material, the system sets the selection date to the current date and ignores your selection criteria.

Note

If you still want to specify a different selection date or additional selection criteria, start the report program DGPDATCO from the transaction SE38. As a rule, you should always start delta filling with the current date and without any additional selection criteria, because otherwise problems with data record splitting for the modified specification data can occur.

However, it also has advantages if you select data records explicitly and at the same time set the Change pointer evaluation indicator, because the explicitly named data records are covered by the change pointer in any case if they were changed.
