Simulating Data Transfer
If you want to copy the concept data to the component variant, we recommend that you simulate the data transfer first. The transfer is executed as a temporary copy.
· All of the data on the Concept Data tab page is copied to the component variant.
· You can select the documents that you want to be copied.
The system explodes the product structure. If the product structure contains component variants with assigned concepts, the simulation replaces the data in the component variants with the data in the currently active concept. However, the changed data is not saved when you run a simulation.
The product structure contains a component variant
(METAL) with three concepts. These concepts have variable-size item data. The
second concept is the active concept.
When you simulate the transfer, the node for the concept group does not appear
in the product structure. The component variant contains the variable-size
item data of the second concept.
You have maintained the product structure in the product designer:
· The product structure contains a component variant that has a concept group with at least one concept. The concept whose data you want to copy is defined as the active concept.
· If you have maintained alternative product structures for different concepts, you must have defined an access for the concept for the component variant.
See Creating an Access for a Concept
If you want to use an existing filter, you need to set the Concepts indicator on the Effectivity Variant tab page for this filter.

You only need to use an existing filter if you want
to run another simulation at the same time, such as a configuration simulation
with specific assigned values.
If you only want to run the simulation for transferring concept data, you can
work with a temporary filter.
To simulate the transfer of concept data to a component variant, you explode the product structure, using a filter.
...
1.
Load the
product structure and expand the structure.
In the navigation area, select the component variant. In the detail area,
check the data of the active concept again.
2.
In the
application toolbar of the iPPE workbench, choose
Filter.
3. Enter data for the filter.
If you want to work with a temporary filter, only set the Concepts indicator on the Effectivity Variant tab page.
The product structure is automatically updated in the navigation area.
4.
In the
application toolbar of the iPPE workbench, choose
Detail Screens.
5.
Expand the
product structure again.
Check the data of the component variants whose data has been overwritten by
the data of the active concepts.
The product structure is set up according to the data in the active concepts. The data in the active concepts has replaced the data in the corresponding component variants. The objects are displayed in both the navigation area and the detail area. This data is not saved to the database.
If you want to copy this concept data, do the following activity: Copying Concept Data to the Component Variant
