If an employee works on short time and is a member of an unemployment fund ("arbejdsløshedskasse"), it is possible under certain conditions to get a supplement to the salary for the working hours up to 37 hours (full-time).

The conditions, that have to be fulfilled before the employee can receive supplementary benefit, are as follows:

• The member of the unemployment fund has to meet the normal conditions for receiving unemployment benefit.
• The unemployment fund must receive a written statement from the employer that a part-time employee may leave his/her job immediately if he/she gets a full-time job ("frigørelsesattest").
• The temporal (time) limitation of the supplementary benefit is a total of 52 weeks within the past 70 weeks (for a full-time insured member). The right to supplementary benefit can be regained after 26 weeks' of work with at least 30 hours per week within 12 months.
• The actual number of worked hours has to be stated on the benefits card ("dagpengekort").
