Personal Data (Infotype 0002): National
Features Great Britain
In addition to the standard entry fields available on the infotype Personal Data (0002) screen, there is an additional National Insurance (NI) Number field for Great Britain.
The NI number is used by the Contributions Agency (CA) to uniquely identify an employee. It is also required in the Payroll for Great Britain component to facilitate legislative reporting.
The NI number you enter in infotype 0002 will be set by default in the NI number field in the employee's National Insurance GB (infotype 0069) record. You cannot enter or change a NI number in an employee’s National Insurance infotype 0069 record.
The NI number field is located in the additional data group box.
The NI number is nine characters long, starting with two alpha characters, followed by six numeric characters, and ending with a single alpha character.

If an employee's NI number is not known, you were previously able to create a temporary NI number until you received the correct number. However, if an employee does not give you a valid NI number now, then the correct procedure is to leave the NI number field in this employee’s infotype Personal Data (0002) record blank.
If an employee also does not give you a valid date of birth, you must fill the birth date field in infotype 0002 with the default value of 01011901.
