Perform initial enrollment after COBRA election

1.       Choose Get offer.

2.       Click on a plan in the offer to select it for enrollment or make changes.

3.       Choose Accept to confirm your settings.

4.       When you have registered the beneficiary's elections for all the relevant plans, choose Enroll.

The COBRA-Qualified Beneficiary record (infotype 0211) with the status Waiting for reply is delimited to the date before the processing date and a new record created from the processing date to show that coverage is elected.

A new record is also created for each dependent with his/her own COBRA rights whom the qualified beneficiary has elected to cover, with a status indicating that dependent coverage was elected.

COBRA Health Plans records (infotype 0212) and COBRA Flexible Spending Accounts records (infotype 0671) are created, valid from the date on which regular coverage was lost until the regular end of the COBRA period or the end of the FSA plan year, respectively.

Make subsequent changes to COBRA elections (due to open enrollment or life event enrollments)

Proceed as for initial enrollment, however, set the date as of which your changes should be effective.

The COBRA offer for open enrollment or life event enrollments includes all COBRA-relevant plans in which a similarly-situated, active employee is eligible to participate, and not just those COBRA-relevant plans in which a beneficiary was enrolled prior to the qualifying event (as you may have requested for initial offers).

Participation is terminated for all COBRA plans in which the beneficiary is enrolled.

The COBRA-Qualified Beneficiary record is delimited to the date before the processing date and a new record created from the processing date with the status Early termination.

The COBRA Health Plans and/or COBRA FSAs record are delimited to the processing date.

If the qualified beneficiary for whom you are terminating participation covers dependents who have their own COBRA rights, and these persons are not enrolled in COBRA plans that will still be valid after the early termination, their participation is also terminated simultaneously.
