Procedure documentation Checking General Settings Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The processes in early engineering are supported by a wide range of functions from different application areas. There is no separate Customizing for the product designer. To ensure that processes run smoothly, you need to check the system settings for the integrated applications areas.

Procedure

The following overview shows the settings for the individual editing processes.

Function

Settings in Application Area

Sending Mail

Transactions

·         Transaction SCOTSAPconnect: Administration
Set up the server configuration for the SMTP protocol.
The SMTP node for the mail service must be active.

·         Maintain an e-mail address in the user master record. This is used as a sender address.

Edit product structure and engineering structure in the iPPE Workbench

Customizing Integrated Product and Process Engineering

·         Activity Define General iPPE Node Type
You have defined a node type for the application Early Engineering (template node type S_GEN).

·         Activity Definition of Tab Pages for the iPPE Workbench
Before you can maintain dependencies in the iPPE workbench, the Dependencies tab page must be active for the product structure.

·         Activity Define General Relationship Types
You link the iPPE objects to each other and model the structure.

·         Activity Settings for Status Management
You define the statuses that an iPPE object is to go through.

Classification of iPPE nodes and iPPE variants

Customizing for Classification

Activity Maintain Object Types and Class Types

·         Before you can classify iPPE nodes, class type 053 (iPPE Nodes) must be completely maintained.
With reference to this class type, in classification function you define classes whose characteristic values classify the iPPE nodes.

·         Before you can classify iPPE variants, class type 056 (iPPE Variants) must be completely maintained.
With reference to this class type, in classification function you define classes whose characteristic values classify the iPPE variants.

Customizing Integrated Product and Process Engineering

·         Activity Define iPPE Node Types
Before you can classify an iPPE node, a standard class must be maintained.

·         Activity Define iPPE Variant Types
Before you can classify an iPPE variant, a standard class must be maintained.

Edit documents

Customizing for Document Management

·         Activity Set Up WebDocuments (BSP)
Enter the special settings for the document types that you want to edit on the Web user interface.

·         Activity Define Document Types
Make the following settings in the Define Object Links navigation step so that you can create documents and maintain links to documents:

For the document link with iPPE Nodes, make an entry for the object
PNODID; for document links with iPPE Variants, make an entry for the object POSVID.
Enter Screen No.
500 for both objects and choose the value 1 (Create Simple Document) for Create Document.

Display material master

Transaction

·         Transaction OCPLM Data Fields for Communicating with the Web Front-End (table PLM_FIELDTABLE)
Select function
MAT_REQ (Display Material). Then maintain an entry for each field you want to display.

·         Transaction OCPLMU Data Fields for User Groups (table PLM_USERGROUPS)
Define the scope of data that is transferred to the front end for a specific user group. The assignment of a user to a user group (for example, ENGINEER) is done in the user master record (parameter
PLM_USERGROUP).

Display work items

Transaction

·         Before you can display workflow information, your user master record must contain the value X for parameter WLC (Workflow: User-Specific Settings).

·         Transaction SWU3 (Automatic Workflow Customizing)
Check the workflow Customizing.

-          The RFC destination must be set up (transaction SM59). Maintain logical destination WORKFLOW_LOCAL<Client>.

-          As the user for logon, enter WF_BATCH. This user needs a profile with comprehensive authorizations.

·         Transaction SWI1 (Selection Report for Work Items)
Start this transaction if workflow processes run with errors (for example, if no work items land in the workflow inbox).
You can display individual work items and work item containers, and workflow logs.

·         In the settings for the Web user interface, you set the Activate Workflow indicator.

Status maintenance for component variants and generic engineering nodes

This status maintenance is only possible if you have maintained the statuses for iPPE objects in Customizing for Integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE).

ITS connection

Hyperlinks to the SAP system via the Internet Transaction Server (ITS) are only possible if you have an ITS installed.

You can check this connection in the Web Application Builder (transaction SE80). Test for an ITS service.
