The system provides standard validations for verifying the entries. You can supplement these by defining your own custom validation rules in Customizing.

The validations are performed during the posting process, specifically, at the callup point defined in the validation rule. There are three callup points: the document header, the document line item, and the posting event.

• To ensure that specific financial statement items are only posted with certain subitems
• To define the currency limits which users are authorized to post
• To ensure that the total amount of depreciation that is posted to asset items using certain subitems, coincides with the total amount in the corresponding depreciation expense item
