Activating and Defining Functional Areas

Purpose

You activate Fund Accounting by activating and configuring the functional area in Funds Management.

Process Flow

Access the Implementation Guide (IMG) and carry out the following steps:

Public Sector Management ® Basic Settings ® Activate Account Assignment Elements

Enterprise Structure ® Definition ® Financial Accounting ® Define Functional Area

Functional areas are user-definable and should be created at the lowest level necessary for tracking specific functions, programs, and/or activities. Individual functional areas can then be grouped in various ways for accounting and reporting purposes.

Note

Functional areas are defined independently of the FM area and can be used in all company codes.

Processing Functional Areas

You can also create or modify functional areas directly (instead of through the IMG) by accessing the Funds Management menu and choosing Master Data ® Functional Area ® Process Functional Area.
