Use

To create and conduct a stability study, you must first create a quality notification in the system. This procedure describes how to create or process a quality notification.

Note

This documentation uses the terms "stability study" and "quality notification" interchangeably. Although both of these terms are synonymous, the more widely used term "stability study" refers to the object in a business context, while the term "quality notification" is used to refer to the object in a system-related or technical context.

Procedure

  1. Depending on whether you want to create a new stability study or process an existing study, choose one of the following menu options from the SAP Easy Access menu:

Note

The remaining steps in this procedure describe how to create a new stability study. If you are changing an existing study, simply enter the key of the study on the initial screen, choose Enter to call up the study in the change mode, and then make your changes as necessary.
  1. Using the possible entries help for the Notification type field, select one of the following notification types and then choose Copy:

These two notification types are provided by SAP as examples and can be used as a template for creating additional notification types for the stability study.
  1. In the Notification field, enter a key for the stability study.

Note

The standard system is set up so you can assign a key to the stability study yourself (external number assignment). If necessary, you can change the system settings in Customizing, so the system will assign a key automatically (internal number assignment).

With an internal number assignment, you must make sure that the system assigns the key at the earliest possible moment. To ensure this, you must set the Early no. alloc. indicator in Customizing for Notification Types (Define Notification Types).

 
  1. Choose Enter to create the stability study.

  1. Depending on whether you are creating a stability study with or without reference to a material, enter the following reference data in the corresponding fields:

Material number

Plant no.

Plant no.

Batch no. (if the material is a batch material)

  1. Choose Save to save the stability study.

Note 

You do not have to exit the stability study by saving it before proceeding with the next steps described below. At the very latest, the stability study will be created in the system when you create the initial sample.

Result

You have created a quality notification in the system to document your intent of conducting a stability study. You can now process the stability study (change quality notification) and proceed with the following steps:
