Function documentation Sequential Numbers Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This is a running number generated for all accounting documents that contain a withholding tax item. If you post a document with two withholding tax items, both items have the same sequential number. This number is used to identify the withholding tax transactions when you come to submit the withholding tax report to the tax authorities.

Depending on how you customize the system, it assigns the withholding tax items a sequential number either immediately they are created or when you print the withholding tax certificates.

Activities

Customizing

There are two ways of customizing the system. Either you can have it assign a sequential number immediately a withholding tax item is generated or when you print the withholding tax certificates.

Follow the instructions under Structure linkConfiguring Certificate Numbering for Withholding Tax. Use numbering method 4, which allows you to use different number ranges different withholding tax certificates and different tax offices (business places).

In addition, deselect No Certificate Numbering in the withholding tax types.

In the withholding tax types, select No Certificate Numbering.

Day-to-Day Activities

If you have customized the system to do so, it automatically assigns every withholding tax item a sequential number.

Periodic Processing

You print the certificates using the Structure linkGeneric Withholding Tax Reporting program. Again, depending on your Customizing settings, the report prints the sequential number already generated, generates a number itself. In both cases, it prints the number on the certificates.

Reporting

The sequential numbers are also printed in the withholding tax returns.
