Procedure documentation Displaying the Explosion Result (FOX Analysis) Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

When you have exploded a baseline, you can display the explosion result in the bottom left-hand screen area. You see the compact storage in the bottom left-hand screen area below the top object, as a separate IBase object.

Prerequisites

You have defined compact storage in the explosion profile (see also the Implementation Guide (IMG) for PLM Product Data Distribution, under Configuration Management ® Define Explosion Profile).

Features

When you have exploded a baseline and saved it to compact storage, from the context menu of the IBase object, you can go to the FOX analysis of the corresponding top object by choosing Display explosion result.

In the title bar of FOX analysis, the top object of the explosion result is displayed. You can also see whether the explosion result is in the buffer or in the database.

You have the following display options:

Navigation

In the FOX analysis, you can navigate forward by double-clicking or by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (choose) or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (object detail. The double-click triggers a different action according to the display and selected goals.

In the FOX analysis, the system supports navigation forward This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and backward This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. For example, when you have navigated through a series of screens, you can then scroll back and forward between these screens.

Note

You cannot go to previous screens:

Starting from the title screen, where you can see statistics on the number of objects per object type, you can double-click to navigate directly to the different displays of the explosion results.

Display of the Explosion Results

You see a list of the number of all objects and object relationships for the overall explosion result of all top objects, and the number of top objects.

You see a list of all top objects.

For each view, you see an overview of the number of objects and object relationships, and the number of objects per object type.

Starting from the top object, you can display a hierarchical display of the explosion. The system shows the number of objects in this explosion.

From several top objects, you can select the one that is relevant to further display.

You can delete a filter on a top object.

You see a list of all top objects that are linked to an object.

You see a list of the superior and subordinate objects for an object.

You can display the object type, object key, object relationships, and validities. The validities can include alternative dates and change numbers.

Settings

Under Extras, you can define:

Recommendation

We recommend that you use external format. Internal format can be used for a problem analysis in the structure explosion.

In internal format, internal keys and codes are displayed for objects, object types, and validities.

Filter

Under filter, you can define:

You can delete a filter on a top object.

From several top objects, you can select the one that is relevant to further display.

The Display object relationships filter in some formats displays the combination of object and object relationships between it and its predecessor, instead of the object itself. This is especially relevant to the display of Juxtaposition of an object and in object lists per object type. If an object in the explosion result occurs with different object relationships, these are distinguished and shown separately here.

Example

An object of type characteristic may occur in the explosion result with the object relationships characteristic of class, characteristic in dependency, characteristic in variant table, or characteristic in variant function.

An object of type material may occur in the explosion result as a top object = unspecified relationship, material in a BOM item, or for example follow-up material for a material.

The display of object relationships can be suppressed by using Hide object relationships (default).

Application Log

In the FOX analysis, you can display the application log at any time by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. You can reset the application log of the explosion in the buffer at any time by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

Procedure

If you want to display the result of the explosion of your baseline:

  1. Place the cursor on the compact storage in the bottom left-hand screen area.
  2. With the right-hand mouse button, choose the entry Display explosion result from the context menu.

The system goes to the FOX analysis via pushbuttons.
