Background documentation Federal Government: Year-End Processing Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The SAP Federal Government solution includes a closing operations feature. This covers the processing necessary at the end of a fiscal year – for example, carrying forward obligations and their related budgets from the old year to the new.

The Federal Government closing operations feature is similar to that in the standard system. For a detailed description of the standard functions, see the closing operations documentation in the FI Funds Management section of the SAP Library.

However, there are some differences between the closing operations feature in Federal Government and the standard functions. To access them, go to the Public Sector Management section of the Easy Access menu and choose Functions for US Federal Government ®Closing Operations.

The most important difference is that certain documents must be closed before you can submit your final year-end balances to Treasury. The preclosing features enables you to do this:

·        If you are using the Budget Control System (BCS), read this documentation.

·        If you are still using the old budgeting function, read this documentation.
