Multiperiod Consolidation with a Consolidation Cycle

Use

If you want to consolidate across more than one period, use multiperiod consolidation.

Integration

A consolidation cycle for multiperiod consolidation applies to a particular version.

Prerequisites

You have made the following settings in Customizing for Consolidation under Data ® Data Monitor ® Consolidation Cycle for Multi-Period Consolidation or Consolidation Functions ® Consolidation Monitor ® Consolidation Cycle for Multi-Period Consolidation:

In the step Define Consolidation Cycle, you have created a consolidation cycle and specified the duration of the consolidation cycle with delta years (together with the consolidation frequency).
In the step Assign Consolidation Cycle to Version, you have assigned the consolidation cycle to a version and specified the start year and start period of the consolidation cycle.

Features

Multiperiod consolidation provides the following features:

In the data monitor and in the consolidation monitor you can scroll between periods in the consolidation cycle.

You can use the flexible upload function to upload the reported financial data of multiple periods in a single run.

The data monitor and the consolidation monitor allow you to do the following (across both monitors):

Run successive tasks
Bundle the remaining periods of a consolidation cycle
Reset the status in remaining periods
Block or unblock tasks in remaining periods

Note

In the data monitor and the consolidation monitor, the status display does not necessarily apply to multiple periods:

Within a consolidation cycle, you can execute tasks of a period while one or more tasks in the prior period are not yet blocked.

Recommendation

However, you should make sure that the tasks of the prior period are blocked.

Examples

Example 1

In Customizing for the consolidation cycle, you have defined a consolidation cycle with one delta year:

Consolidation frequency	4 (quarterly: periods 003, 006, 009, and 012)

The consolidation cycle therefore begins in period 012/2000.

Additional periods of the consolidation cycle:

003/2002 (2000 plus two delta years)
006/2002
009/2002
012/2002

The above-mentioned functions are available during the consolidation cycle (for example, you can scroll between periods in the data monitor and in the consolidation monitor).

Example 2

In Customizing for the consolidation cycle, you have defined a consolidation cycle with two delta years:
