Remote
Access to SAP RetailThere are a number of scenarios in which staff need remote access to their SAP system:
· A store associate wants to enter physical inventory data in a store.
· An external sales person wants to enter order quantities from the hotel room.
· A buyer wants to access current consumption figures during negotiations with a vendor.
A link must exist with the central SAP system while data is being accessed. This link can be established by a switched line or leased line and modem.
SAP Retail offers you the following options for linking to the SAP system:
· Access to all SAP transactions with the SAP graphical user interface (SAPgui) or a web browser (via the internet, for example)
A user accesses the SAP Retail system in your head office using an external terminal, such as a Unix terminal, a PC or a laptop.
Since stores only require some of the SAP Retail functions, SAP provide a special store menu that is tailored specifically to the requirements of the store.
· Access to transactions specially adapted for store use, via a web browser (SAP Retail Store).

In both cases, goods movements and financial transactions take place in a closed cycle, enabling them to be more easily monitored.
