Definition
A work center is a spatial area within a business’s work system, where an activity should be carried out. Examples of work centers include a group of people, a single machine or a production area.

You can create an activity with no work center, for example, if you do not know at which work center the activity should be carried out, or if you want to determine only the dates when the activity is to be carried out using the network or the standard network.
If you do not specify a work center for an activity, scheduling determines only the begin and end dates, and calculates neither capacity requirement nor costs.
