Creating a Standalone Vehicle 
You can create a standalone vehicle via the yard monitor. The vehicle is created in the yard and is not assigned to any document.

You can also create a standalone vehicle via the checkpoint tool. For more information, see Using the Checkpoint Tool.
You have defined the following:
· The yard map in Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Yard Management ® Yard Map
· Vehicle number ranges in Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Vehicles (Handling Units) ® Define Vehicle (HU) Number Ranges

Display the objects of the Vehicles object class. |
From the hierarchy tree, right-click the Vehicles object class. |

From
the ALV tool bar, choose The Create Vehicle dialog box appears. |
Choose Create from the pop-up menu. The Create Vehicle dialog box appears. |
|

Select the category of vehicle that you want to create (Means of Transport or Transport Equipment). |

You can enter a number from 1-99 in the Priority field. If you create a scheduling activity for more than one vehicle, locations will be scheduled for the vehicles according to their priorities, with locations being scheduled for the higher priority vehicles first. |

If you want the packing level to be marked as relevant for dangerous goods on the packing list, select DG-relevant. |
|

If you want the vehicle to be permanently assigned to the yard and remain in the monitor even after check-out, select Permanent. |

If you want to prevent the vehicle from being checked-out unless a sealing activity has been confirmed for the vehicle, select Sealing. |

In the Vehicle Type field, you can choose a vehicle type from the checkbox. If you leave this field blank, the system automatically populates it with one of the following: · The default vehicle type for the forwarding agent (if you enter a forwarding agent in the relevant field pursuant to step 10 below) as defined in Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Yard Management ® Vehicles (Handling Units) ® Define Forwarding Agent Vehicle Types · The default vehicle type for the yard as defined in Customizing for Logistics Execution ® Yard Management ® Define Yard, if you have not defined a default vehicle type for the forwarding agent |

In the Loc. Class and Location fields, you can choose the location class and location in which the created vehicle will be initially located.
A vehicle can not be created at a door since doors should be scheduled for vehicles.
We recommend that you create a standalone vehicle outside of the yard and then check it in. |

You can enter the following vehicle and ownership details in the relevant fields: · License plate · Container ID (must be unique for a forwarding agent) · Driver’s name · Driver’s nationality · Name of alternate driver · Forwarding agent of vehicle · Vehicle owner · Transponder
Although these fields are optional, we recommend that you enter the following: · Vehicle’s license plate/container ID so that the vehicle can be easily tracked within the yard · Forwarding agent so that the system does the following: · Ensures consistent assignment of shipments to vehicles based on forwarding agent. For more information, see Assigning Vehicles to Documents. · Automatically populates the Vehicle Type field with the default vehicle type defined for the forwarding agent · Assigns to the vehicle the default waiting time defined for the vehicle type of the forwarding agent. When you attempt to assign a vehicle to a document via the yard monitor, the system displays the possible vehicles, sorted in ascending order, according to the vehicle waiting time. |

The vehicle is created, without being assigned to any document, and appears in the monitor. If you entered a location for the vehicle, the vehicle is located at that location, and there is no need to create for it a check-in activity.
