Use

The standalone version of the Log Viewer server provides the ability to monitor logs in the system when the J2EE Engine is not running properly, does not start up at all, or is not available on the system to be monitored.

The standalone installation file is located under the J2EE admin directory (default path: <saploc>\<sid>\JC<inst-nr>\j2ee\admin\logviewer-standalone and includes both the Standalone Log Viewer (logviewer.bat, logviewer.sh) and the Log Viewer Remote Server (remoteserver.bat, remoteserver.sh) The Standalone Log Viewer consists of a server and client. The Log Viewer server can be installed as a service automatically running. The user can then connect to the local Log Viewer service starting the client part of the Log Viewer via the P4 port on the J2EE Engine, or remote via the RMI port to the Log Viewer Remote Server. However to connect, the NI protocol is used by default.

Once installed, the client is run using a batch file. The current P4 port properties can be viewed via the Config Tool under the dispatcher node.
