Function documentation Filtering of Generation Variants by Use Symbol Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This function determines how many use symbols must be printed on a label. It then determines from all generation variants found during label determination, those that use symbols can be printed in combination with. This reduces the number of generation variants found.

Features

...

       1.      The system only determines hazard symbols as use symbols with this function, as follows:

...

                            a.      It determines the specification assigned to the material that was specified.

                            b.      For this specification, it reads all hazard symbols that were specified in the value assignment type specified in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under Specify Environment Parameters in the GLM_LABELING_ESTCAT environment parameter. The characteristic with the key <value assignment type>_SYMBOL is also evaluated. If the environment parameter does not contain a value, the characteristic Hazard Symbol (SAP_EHS_1023_001_SYMBOL) of the value assignment type Labeling (SAP_EHS_1023_001) is evaluated. In both cases, all data records are evaluated by their Structure linkusage.

       2.      The system determines for each generation variant, the number of hazard symbols that must be printed with this generation variant, as follows:

...

                            a.      From the generation variant’s header data, it determines its validity area and how a usage check must be carried out (see the documentation on the Usage Check field).

                            b.      The system compares the validity area with the validity areas of the hazard symbol data records from the usage check that was specified, and uses this to determine how many hazard symbols must be printed with this generation variant (see Example).

       3.      The system uses the number of hazard symbols to determine whether a generation variant is suitable, as follows:

...

                            a.      The system determines the label stock assigned to the generation variant as an object of the report application LABELSTOCK.

                            b.      From the definition of this label stock (see Editing Label Stock), the system determines the maximum number of use symbols this label stock can include.

                            c.      If this number is greater than or equal to the number of hazard symbols that must be printed with this generation variant, then this generation variant is suitable and will be used during the course of label determination.

Example

...

       1.      The system found the following hazard symbols for the specification:

¡        Symbol X with validity area DE

¡        Symbol Y with validity area GB

¡        Symbol Z with validity area FR

       2.      One generation variant found has the validity area DE, GB. Therefore, only two of the three hazard symbols that were found must be printed with this generation variant; the hazard symbols X and Y.

       3.      If this generation variant is assigned a label stock containing at least two hazard symbols, then the generation variant will be used in the course of label determination.
