Function documentation Determination of Number of Labels Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This function determines the number of labels required for those labels found during label determination.

Prerequisites

In order for the system to be able to determine the number of labels, the following data must be available:

Note

You enter the conversion factors in the material master of the material to be labeled under alternative units of measure (see Specifying Packaging Hierarchies for a Material).

Features

The system will calculate the number of labels automatically as follows, if it determined the label tree during label determination.

  1. It determines the number of packaging units to be labeled from the conversion factors for each packaging layer and the number of packaging units of the outermost packaging layer that is labeled.
  2. For each label category, it determines how many labels must appear on a packaging unit from the labeling specification in the material master of the material.
  3. The number of labels is therefore the number of packaging units to be labeled (step 1) multiplied by the number of labels that must appear on a packaging unit (step 2).

The following applies:

<Number of labels> = <number of outer packaging units> x <conversion factor> x <number of labels on the packaging unit>

Activities

See Determining Labels.

Example

The system determined labels for a material for packaging units pallet and crate. The outermost packaging unit for shipment is the pallet, 10 of which require labels. The alternative units of measure of the material show that a pallet contains 8 crates. For the label categories that were found, the labeling specification states that 2 labels must appear on a pallet and 4 on a crate. This produces the following numbers of labels:
