Function documentation Grouping Personnel Assignments for Concurrent Employment Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

In Payroll, the system processes some personnel assignments of a concurrently employed person together, and some separately. It therefore groups the personnel assignments according to certain criteria. How the personnel assignments are grouped depends on the processing step for which the grouping is performed.

Prerequisites

You have checked the Customizing settings for grouping personnel assignments and, if necessary, adapted them to meet your demands, in Customizing of Personnel Management under Personnel Administration ® Basic Settings ® Basic Settings for Concurrent Employment ® Editor for Personnel Assignment Groupings.

Features

The individual programs and functions of the various processing steps of Payroll are each assigned a Structure linkgrouping reason for personnel assignments. Structure linkGrouping rules for personnel assignments are assigned to the grouping reasons in Customizing. Each grouping rule determines the criteria for grouping and assigns a Structure linkgrouping value for personnel assignments to the individual personnel assignments.

In the standard system the following groupings are provided for payroll:

Note

If several groupings exist for the same processing step, the system uses the country-specific grouping for the country that is assigned to the personnel assignment. This is the case, for example, with grouping reason XXNT. For more information, seeStructure linkChecking the Grouping Rules for a Grouping Reason.

The system stores all the groupings it uses during a payroll run in the payroll results in the table GROUPING (Grouping Information for Person). You can use this table at a later date to check how the personnel assignments in a specific payroll run were grouped.

Note that the groupings that the system uses for a processing step in payroll must not overlap with the grouping according to the payroll area.

Note

This affects the following types of grouping reasons:

·         Grouping reasons that are assigned to a payroll function, for example, one of the functions XNET, XPAY, or XRETR.

·         Grouping reasons that are used in the Customizing for a payroll function, for example, the function LIMITS.

Other grouping reasons, for example, those that the system checks when creating an infotype record, are not affected.

Therefore, a grouping for payroll cannot include two personnel assignments of an employee that belong to payroll area UD and a personnel assignment that belongs to payroll area UW. The following graphic demonstrates this:

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text
