Background documentation Web Dynpro ABAP Configuration Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

After you have installed the system and before you start developing Web Dynpro applications, components, and interfaces, the configuration settings described below must be made.

Prerequisites

You have installed the application server ABAP (AS ABAP). For more information see the Internet address service.sap.com/instguidesnw2004s  ® Installation.

For more information about the required system landscape, see the master guide for SAP NetWeaver 2004s available at the Internet address service.sap.com/installNW2004s.

As well as installing the AS-ABAP, you must also configure it correctly. You can find information about AS-ABAP configuration in the SAP Reference IMG (Implementation Guide) under Application Server or in the SAP Solution Manager (Business Suite 2005) under Business Process Repository  ®  Solutions  ®  Basic Configuration  ® Configuration Structures ® SAP NetWeaver 2004s ®  Usage Type AS-ABAP.

Initial Configuration Settings

To ensure Web Dynpro ABAP applications can be smoothly created and operated, some additional configuration settings are necessary for areas underlying the Web Dynpro programming model – the Structure linkInternet Communication Manager (ICM), Structure linkInternet Communication Framework (ICF), the View Designer - and are also necessary for complying with the security requirements.

     ICM

HTTP/HTTPS must be set in the ICM (see also Structure linkDisplaying and Changing Services).

     ICF

     ICF services must be activated.

If a service is not activated by default, you can activate it from the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG). In transaction SPRO choose Display SAP Reference IMG. The path in the Implementation Guide for SAP NetWeaver is: Application Server  ®  Internet Communication Framework  ®  Activate HTTP Servicesor Activate Services in Installation.

For more information see SAP note 517484.

Note

When a Web Dynpro application is created, a node for it is automatically created in the ICF tree.

Note that the system performs a check against the Authorization Object when an ICF node is created.

Administration of the (ICF) server functions (authorization assignment): Administration of Server Functions

Administration of (ICF) client functions (creation of RFC destinations, and so on): Administration of Client Functions

     View Designer

For the layout editor in the View Designer all the services for Web Dynpro ABAP listed in note 517484 must be activated:

     SSO

SSO must be set up on the relevant application server. See also Structure linkConfiguring the AS-ABAP for Supporting SSL For more information about security for Web Dynpro ABAP application see Structure linkSecurity Issues for Web Dynpro ABAP.

     FQDN

Avoid shortened FQDN.

Configuration Settings Depending on Requirements

Depending on which Web Dynpro ABAP functions you use, additional configuration settings are necessary.

Portal Integration

If you want your Web Dynpro ABAP application to run in the Structure linkPortal, the prerequisites described under Structure linkPortal Integration Requirements must be met.

Also see SAP note 903662.

Adobe Integration

For Structure linkAdobe Integration of Web Dynpro ABAP applications, you need the following:

An SAP NetWeaver AS System with Adobe Document Services (ADS)

Details about installation and configuration can be found in the relevant guides on the SAP Service Marketplace under the quick link /installNW2004s, and under Structure linkAdobe Document Services Configuration Guide.

Note that the layout designer is installed with the SAP GUI.

     A Web Dynpro ABAP application

Adobe Reader (>= 7.0) and, if you are creating interactive forms, also the ActiveX Control Framework (ACF) installed on your computer. Also see SAP note 834573.

ActiveX must be activated in the browser.

Using UI Elements from the ActiveComponent Library

If you are using Structure linkGantt or Structure linkNetwork UI elements from the ActiveComponent library in your applications, note the following:

A standard browser and a Java runtime in the form of the Sun plug-in must be installed on the front end.

The Java version should be 1.4. Windows and Linux are supported.

Using UI Elements from the OfficeIntegration Library

To use the Structure linkOfficeControl, you need:

     Microsoft Office or StarOffice installation.

For more information about the Office versions supported by SAP see Note 722513.

ActiveX must be activated in the browser.

Using UI Elements from the BusinessIntelligence Library

To use Structure linkBI Application Frame you need a connection to a BI system or to have the relevant BI data in your system.

Using UI Elements from the BusinessGraphics Library

The Structure linkGeoMap UI element can only be used with a special software component that is provided by the geographical maps.

This software component, which you can use to expand the Structure linkInternet Graphics Service (IGS), is not delivered with AS-ABAP. It must be purchased from a third-party provider. The GeoMap UI element cannot be displayed without this complementary software component.

Using the SAP List Viewer

No additional configuration settings are required to use the Structure linkSAP List Viewer in Web Dynpro ABAP.

Additional Information

Details of the concepts and functions that the Web Dynpro programming model offers for the ABAP area can be found in the Web Dynpro ABAP Structure linkDocumentation.
