Reading of Data from SAP BW (Periodic Data Transfer from BW) 

Use

You can use the planning data from SEM-BPS InfoCubes as the source for consolidation. You also can use other InfoCubes as your source (for example, InfoCubes from Accounting).

Prerequisites

The InfoCubes from which you want the system to read must contain InfoObjects required for consolidation.

Features

To be able to transfer periodic planning data from the SEM-BPS InfoCube to EC-CS, you use the data transfer method Read from BW.

This function reads period values only, which are entered periodically in EC-CS.

The BW characteristics are converted to EC-CS characteristics.

If the InfoCube being read contains the characteristic 0CS_Unit, then the consolidation units are reflected in EC-CS.

Otherwise, the BW characteristics are converted to EC-CS characteristics according to the definitions in the Integration Customizing tables. How the system converts the characteristics depends on the given consolidation type:

Activities

Customize the Data Streams

...

       1.      You define the reading data stream in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for EC-CS under Consolidation ® Data ® Data Collection ® Collect Data from Business Information Warehouse ® Define Data Streams.

Under Destination you define which target system and InfoCube is to be linked to the data streams listed underneath.

       2.      Under Data Streams from BW, for each destination you define the data streams to be read from SAP BW into EC-CS.

For each data stream, you specify the fields Dimension, Version, Consolidation Chart of Accounts, and an Active Indicator.

       3.      At Further Selections, for each data stream to be read you can define restrictions to the characteristics of the InfoCube that do not exist in EC-CS. For example, you can restrict a data stream to the planning version.

       4.      Under Assign Info Objects ® Field Names, you can choose those InfoObjects in the InfoCube that do not correspond with the EC-CS InfoCube for transaction data (0ECCS_C01). You can assign a field name to these InfoObjects. This field name represents either an EC-CS field name for subassignments (including custom subassignments) or a dummy value. When the InfoCube is read, the value of the InfoObject specified here is transferred to the specified EC-CS field.

You start the data transfer in the data monitor of EC-CS.
