Procedure documentation Creating Variants for Reports Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You require variants for evaluations you use frequently and for reports you want to execute in the background.

Procedure

  1. To access variant maintenance, go to the Project System part of the Easy Access menu and choose Information System ® Tools ® Hierarchy Reports ® Background processing.

    2. The system asks you to specify a controlling area, then the Specify Report Type dialog box is displayed.

  2. Choose whether you want to maintain a variant for project reports or summarization reports.

    3. This takes you to the screen Background Processing for Drilldown Reports.

  3. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Variant.

    4. The ABAP: Variants - Initial Screen appears.

  4. Enter a name for the variant and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Create. The system may ask you to specify a database profile. Enter the one you require.

    5. This takes you to the Maintain Variant screen, where you can maintain the selection criteria to appear when you access a project report.

  5. Specify the parameters for report selection and executing reports in the background.
  6. Save the attributes you have specified and enter a short text.
