Creating SEM Banking
Positions
Position values are determined on the basis of single transactions. Positions need to be created only if the position has not yet been costed, and it was automatically updated.
In Risk Analysis, the generation of positions is a prerequisite for the evaluation of the single transactions related to the position. This means a single transaction cannot be valued if the position to which it belongs has not been created.
You have already created a position for which the position value was calculated from single transactions (position calculation indicator 1).

The generation of positions is defined in the costing rules for single positions within single transaction costing. In single transaction costing, position generation is used to control how additional fields are selected, and how fields are populated with data in the fixed procedures for the costing rule. You should therefore make sure that the position control in the position object corresponds to the position control in the costing rule.

If you reassign a forex transaction to a different position by changing the portfolio, both positions have to be recreated as from the value date of the transaction.

1. In the SAP Easy Access menu, choose Accounting ® Bank Applications ® SEM Banking ® Data Pool ® Tools ® Creation of SEM Banking Positions ® Create Securities Positions or Create Foreign Exchange Positions or Create Listed Derivatives Positions.

No forex positions are created in the Risk Analysis component.
2. Enter the position criteria.
3. Enter the Position Generation from date.
If you do not enter a date, the position is created as of the value date of the first unprocessed single transaction.
4. Enter the Position Generation to date.
This date defines up to which date the single transactions are read for the position. The position is valid only until this date.

If you want to display the data as a list, and do not want any changes to be made to the database, set the Test Run indicator.
5.
Choose
Execute.
A log containing detailed information about the creation of the position is displayed.

For example,
the creation report for securities positions contains a list of all flows
within the time period you selected. This includes the position date,
plus/minus sign, number of units or nominal amount, amount in position
currency and in local currency, and the order number/external number. From the
data, the system determines the
position values
and the corresponding
floating average
rate for securities (SEC FLA) and the floating average rate for foreign
exchange (FX FLA). The system displays SEC FLA and FX FlY per position date
with the respective position value.
Once the position has been created, you can then display the position values. In the SAP Easy Access menu choose Accounting ® Bank Applications ® SEM Banking ® Data Pool ® Bank Transactions ® Positions ® Position Values ® Display.
