Waste Catalog
A listing defined by law or specified within an enterprise for the codes, names, and further description of wastes.
Each waste catalog
corresponds to a
phrase in phrase management in the Basic Data
and Tools component. The description of the waste catalog (for example,
European waste
catalog) is entered as a
phrase text and the abbreviation of the waste catalog (for example,
EWC) is entered as a phrase code (see Editing Waste
Catalogs).
In order to be able to assign the phrase in a waste catalog to a field or characteristic, you must assign it to the corresponding phrase set for the field or characteristic.

To avoid inconsistent data, you should use the same phrase set for all fields and characteristics in which waste catalogs are specified.
For more
information about phrases and phrase sets, see
Phrase Management
in the Basic Data and Tools
documentation.
As a rule, a waste
code belongs to at least one waste catalog. You can therefore assign a waste
code to the corresponding waste catalogs by specifying the waste catalogs as
identifiers of the
category WASTECOCAT in the specification for the waste code (see Editing Waste
Codes).
In Customizing for Waste Management, you can specify one or more waste catalogs for each waste approval type and for each disposal document type. Only waste codes that belong to these waste catalogs can then be assigned to a waste approval or disposal document of that type (see Editing Waste Code Assignments or Assigning Waste Codes).
