Assigning Values to
Characteristics
There are important qualitative and quantitative differences between the structure nodes and component variants of a product structure. You can classify these iPPE objects and assign values to their characteristics. Classification gives you a systematic way of accessing iPPE objects according to their properties.
Activity Maintain Object Types and Class Types
·
Before you can
classify iPPE nodes, class type 053 (iPPE Nodes) must be completely
maintained.
With reference to this class type, in classification function you define
classes whose characteristic values classify the iPPE nodes.
·
Before you can
classify iPPE variants, class type 056 (iPPE Variants) must be completely
maintained.
With reference to this class type, in classification function you define
classes whose characteristic values classify the iPPE variants.
You have classified
the iPPE object whose characteristic values you want to assign on the Web user
interface, in the iPPE workbench.
The class type is preset on the Classification tab page. To select classes,
choose
Classification. The characteristics of all
assigned classes are listed in the iPPE workbench, on the Classification tab page.
You are displaying the object-specific page of an iPPE object.
See Displaying Engineering Data
...
1. Choose the Data Sheet view.
Below the header data, the administrative data is displayed.
Then come the characteristics of all classes that have been assigned to the iPPE object in the iPPE workbench.
2. Enter or change one or more characteristic values.
How you enter values depends on the definition of the characteristic. For example, you can select a value from the possible entries, or enter any character string you want.
You can enter several values for a multiple-value characteristic, separating them with a semicolon.
3. Choose Save. The changed data is saved to the SAP system.
After saving, you see information on the change you made to the classification, above the header data.
