Movement 

Definition

A movement activity is a yard activity created in the system to track a vehicle’s movements in the yard.

 

Use

Movement activities can be created in advance by any of the following users:

·        Yard managers via the yard monitor. For more information, see Creating a Movement Activity.

·        Checkpoint operators via the checkpoint tool (movements from checkpoint to a parking space or door). For more information, see Using the Checkpoint Tool.

·        Desktop users via the loading/unloading point tool (movements from the door). For more information, see Using the Loading/Unloading Point Tool.

When a movement activity is created in advance, it can be created with or without automatic confirmation.

·        If it is created with automatic confirmation, the movement activity is created with status 4 Completed.

·        If it is not created with automatic confirmation, the movement activity is created with status 1 Planned. It can be subsequently confirmed by an RF user, or yard manager via the Complete confirmation monitor method. For more information, see Yard Monitor Methods.

A spotter scans transport equipment and moves it to a parking space proposed by the system.

The confirmation of a movement activity for a vehicle also affects the status of any scheduling activity for the same vehicle:

·        When a movement activity to the door scheduled for a vehicle is confirmed, the status of the scheduling activity changes from 1 Planned to 2 Started.

·        When a movement activity from the door scheduled for a vehicle is confirmed, the status of the scheduling activity changes from 2 Started   to 4 Completed.

Movement activities are optional. Vehicle locations can be manually changed via the Modify monitor method.
