Business Partner Search 

Use

You can use various search functions to search for business partners in the standard system. The search functions vary in terms of

·       search criteria

·       enhancement options

·       scope

·       performance

You can get different results for the search criteria you enter, depending on the purpose of the search, and the search help you have used.

You have two business partners whose last name is Lee in your system. For business partner Lee, number 1345, you have entered an alias, address data and additional partner numbers. For business partner Lee, number 1546, you have only entered the first and last name.

If you enter the last name Lee as a search criterion in the search help Partner by Alias, and start the search, you will only find business partner Lee, number 1345, as this was the only business partner for whom you entered an alias.

If you enter the last name Lee as a search criterion in the search help Partner by Different Attributes, and start the search, you will find both business partners whose last name is Lee. In order to include business partners whose names are written in a similar way, such as Lea or Leigh, in the search results, set the Phonetic Search Help Active for Name Fields too indicator. This increases the number of hits for the business partner search.

Integration

You can use your own search functions, and integrate these in the dialog for the SAP Business Partner for Financial Services.

Features

There are two types of business partner search:

·       As an interface element belonging to the transaction Maintain Business Partner, the locator is ever-present in business partner processing, and can be accessed quickly. It comprises a tab with the tab pages worklist and search, and enables you to search for business partners quickly using just a few search criteria. The maximum number of search results is set at 100 by default.

·       F4 Search helps

You can access the F4 search help by choosing the Open BP button and using the input help, or by using the input help directly in the Business Partner field. This function enables you to search for specific business partners by entering complex or specific search criteria.

You are searching for a business partner, and enter the business partner’s last name as the search term.

The table shows how the search result depends on the F4 search help you have used:

The business partner search by different attributes has a special role within the F4 search helps.

All the search functions allow you to use placeholders when searching for business partners. The system cannot interpret a placeholder at the beginning of the search term in the Partner by Different Attributes search help.

In the F4 search helps you can limit the number of search results, and enter the search criteria as individual values or as intervals. In the Partner by Different Attributes search help you can only enter search criteria as individual values.
