Concurrent Employment Workbench
Using the Concurrent Employment Benefits Workbench, administrators can perform benefits actions for employees with multiple personnel assignments in accordance with any combination of a number of selection criteria, including Dynamic selections of personal data, evaluation periods, person IDs, and other data. Each of these selection criteria are described in detail below, under “Features.”
Before you may use the Concurrent Employment Benefits Workbench, you are required to have activated Concurrent Employment in your system. If you have not activated Concurrent Employment, then the system will issue an error message to this effect; it will not permit you to execute the Workbench, meaning that you cannot administer or process benefits for employees with multiple personnel assignments.
Using dynamic selections for personal data, administrators can specify any combination of last names, first names, dates of birth and ID numbers to process benefits for employees. Unlike standard selection criteria in other mySAP HR Benefits applications, users can customize the personal data selections that appear on the Concurrent Employment Benefits Workbench screen, meaning that any combination of these four selection criteria may be specified.
Using evaluation periods, administrators can apply either a key date of their choosing or today’s date to the benefits action(s) they wish to process. Upon accepting the default evaluation period – Key date – the user must specify in an adjacent field the date to apply to their benefits action(s). Upon choosing Today, the adjacent field disappears, and today's date is applied to the benefits action(s) specified.

The particular advantage of benefits administration in the Concurrent Employment Benefits Workbench lies in the use of the Key date field. By specifying an appropriate key date during benefits processing, administrators can delimit certain employee personnel assignments, while keeping others active, thereby ensuring that in terms of benefits, for any particular date, any personnel assignment for any employee can be activated or delimited.
Using person IDs, administrators can specify any individual person ID or range of person IDs that they desire.
Using other data, administrators can specify whether the Concurrent Employment Benefits Workbench is to process concurrently employed persons only. To this end, administrators can accept the default selection of the Only Concurrently Employed Persons checkbox. If this checkbox is not deactivated, then the Workbench only processes employees with multiple personnel assignments. If the user, however, deselects this checkbox, then the Workbench processes employees with multiple personnel assignments alongside employees with single personnel assignments. Therefore, depending upon the selection made by the administrator, either concurrently employed persons alone are processed or these persons are processed jointly with non-concurrently employed persons.
To use the Concurrent Employment Benefits Workbench, choose the menu path named above. If desired, specify dynamic selections for personal data. Specify the evaluation period for the benefits action(s) you wish to process – either an appropriate Key date or Today. If desired, specify a range of person IDs for processing. Finally, if necessary, deselect the Only Concurrently Employed Persons checkbox if you wish to process concurrently employed persons alongside non-concurrently employed persons.
