Function documentation Fixing a BOM Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The system fixes a BOM if it is part of a baseline. Fixing ensures that all BOM change statuses documented in the baseline can be reproduced later.

Features

BOM fixing is controlled by engineering change management. If you freeze a BOM in a baseline, this has the following effects:

List of Change Numbers

The system compiles a list of change numbers for each BOM. The system enters in this list all the change numbers that you have used to edit the BOM.

Note

You can display this list in the structure of a baseline by clicking the right mouse button on the node with the symbol This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

Indicators in an Object Management Record

In each object management record that you have used to process the BOM, the system sets the indicator Baselined. If this indicator is set, the BOM can no longer be processed with reference to this change number. Furthermore, you cannot use this change number to carry out any more date shifts for the objects contained in the baseline.

Note

The system does not fix the OVRs for objects, for which the engineering change request has not yet been released during fixing. This means that you can carry on processing these objects in the BOM with the same change number after fixing.

Change Number Is Obligatory

As soon as a BOM is a part of a baseline, the BOM automatically has a history requirement. This means that you can only process this BOM with reference to a change number. You cannot change the BOM without a change number, even if you have authorization object C_STUE_NOH.

Caution

From the time when you create a baseline, you should only process all BOMs contained in the baseline with reference to an ECR/ECO.
