Process documentation Delayed Distribution of Inbound and Outbound Deliveries to the Decentralized WMS Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

You can delay distribution of inbound and outbound deliveries to the decentralized Warehouse Management system (WMS). You can decide yourself the point at which an inbound or outbound delivery is completed and can be transferred to the decentralized WMS.

Prerequisites

Make the following settings for the warehouse number and delivery type in Customizing:

  1. For the warehouse number, define whether the delivery is to be distributed immediately after creation or at a later stage.

For more information, see Logistics Execution ® Decentralized WMS Distribution ® Central Processing ® Application ® Activate Decentralized WMS in the Implementation Guide (IMG). This setting affects all inbound and outbound deliveries that are processed in the corresponding warehouse number.

  1. Set the distribution mode for the relevant delivery type for the deliveries. The following modes are permitted for inbound and outbound deliveries:

For additional information, see Logistics Execution ® Shipping ® Deliveries ® Define Delivery Types in the Implementation Guide (IMG). In this activity, you can set the distribution for each delivery type, independent of warehouse number. Note that the settings made here override the settings made for the warehouse number.

Process Flow

  1. Create a delivery via the delivery dialog or via collective processing.
  2. If the Customizing is set to ‘delayed distribution’, the delivery receives the distribution status ‘D’ on creation (distribution is delayed).
  3. Deliveries with distribution status ‘D’ are not distributed on creation and can be changed, expanded, or deleted in the central system.
  4. At the desired time, you can distribute the deliveries with distribution status ‘D’ to the decentralized WMS via the Structure linkdelivery monitor (function ‘for distribution’).
  5. Following distribution, the deliveries receive distribution status ‘B’ (distributed) in the central system.
  6. If change management is active, the distributed deliveries can be changed as described in Subsequent Changes to Distributed Deliveries.
  7. If change management is not active, the delivery document can no longer be changed in the central system following distribution.

Note

Using the ‘for distribution’ function in the Structure linkdelivery monitor, you can distribute inbound or outbound deliveries that have been held back to the decentralized WMS when you wish.
