Use

You can assign vehicles to deliveries and shipments via the monitor in one of the following ways:

...

       1.      Invoking a method from a Vehicle object

You can use this method if you want to assign a particular vehicle to:

¡        One or more deliveries

¡        One outbound shipment

This method is particularly useful when you have already assigned the vehicle to a delivery, and you want to assign it to another one.

       2.      Invoking a method from one or more Inbound Deliveries or Outbound Deliveries objects

You can use this method if you want to assign a vehicle to one or more specific deliveries.

       3.      Invoking a method from an Inbound Shipments or Outbound Shipments object.

You can use this method if you want to assign a vehicle to a specific shipment.

 

Prerequisites

If you want to assign a particular vehicle to one or more documents, the vehicle must not be blocked.

 

Procedure

Assigning Vehicles to Deliveries

Vehicles

1.

Display the Vehicles objects.

2.

From the ALV, select the row corresponding to the particular vehicle that you want to assign to one or more deliveries.

From the hierarchy tree, select the object corresponding to the vehicle that you want to assign to one or more deliveries.

3.

From the ALV tool bar, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and then Assign to delivery from the pop-up menu.

Right-click the icon to the left of the object and choose Assign to delivery from the pop-up menu.

4.

The Assign Vehicle to Document dialog box appears, displaying the following:

·        A list of inbound deliveries, if the vehicle is already assigned to an inbound delivery

·        A list of outbound deliveries, if the vehicle is already assigned to an outbound delivery, or if the vehicle is empty and is not assigned to any delivery

If the vehicle has a particular forwarding agent, the system display deliveries except those that are assigned to a shipment of a different forwarding agent.

5.

Select the lines corresponding to the deliveries to which you want to assign the vehicle and choose Enter.

The vehicle is assigned to the deliveries.

Inbound Deliveries

Outbound Deliveries

1.

Display the Inbound Deliveries or Outbound Deliveries objects.

2.

From the ALV, select one or more rows corresponding to the deliveries to which you want to assign a vehicle.

From the hierarchy tree, select one or more objects corresponding to the deliveries to which you want to assign a vehicle.

3.

From the ALV tool bar, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and then Assign vehicle from the pop-up menu.

Right-click the icon to the left of the object and choose Assign vehicle from the pop-up menu.

If you have selected more than one object, right-click the icon to the left of any of the objects.

4.

The Assign Vehicle to Document dialog box appears, displaying a list of possible vehicles for assignment to the deliveries, sorted in descending order by time in yard.

·        In the case of inbound deliveries, the system displays those available vehicles that are not assigned to an outbound document, or are not empty.

·        In the case of outbound deliveries, the system displays those available vehicles that are assigned to an outbound document, or are empty.

If the deliveries are assigned to a shipment with a specific forwarding agent, the system displays vehicles except those with a different forwarding agent.

5.

Select the line corresponding to the vehicle to which you want to assign the deliveries and choose Enter.

The vehicle is assigned to the deliveries.

 

Assigning Vehicles to Shipments

Display the Vehicles objects.

2.

From the ALV, select the row corresponding to the particular vehicle that you want to assign to an outbound shipment.

From the hierarchy tree, select the object corresponding to the vehicle that you want to assign to an outbound shipment.

3.

From the ALV tool bar, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and then Assign to outbound shipment from the pop-up menu.

Right-click the icon to the left of the object and choose Assign to outbound shipment from the pop-up menu.

4.

The Assign Vehicle to Document dialog box appears, displaying a list of outbound shipments.

If the vehicle has a specific forwarding agent, the system displays outbound shipments except those with a different forwarding agent.

5.

Select the line corresponding to the outbound shipment to which you want to assign the vehicle and choose Enter.

The vehicle is assigned to the shipment.

Inbound Shipments

Outbound Shipments

1.

Display the Inbound Shipments or Outbound Shipments objects.

2.

From the ALV, select the row corresponding to the shipment to which you want to assign a vehicle.

From the hierarchy tree, select the object corresponding to the shipment to which you want to assign a vehicle.

3.

From the ALV tool bar, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text and then Assign vehicle from the pop-up menu.

Right-click the icon to the left of the object and choose Assign vehicle from the pop-up menu.

4.

The Assign Vehicle to Document dialog box appears, displaying a list of possible vehicles for assignment to the shipment, sorted in descending order by time in yard.

If the shipment has a specific forwarding agent, the system displays vehicles except those with a different forwarding agent.

5.

Select the line corresponding to the vehicle to which you want to assign the shipment and choose Enter.

The vehicle is assigned to the shipment.

Note

You can un-assign vehicles from documents via the Un-assign monitor method.

When you unload some of the deliveries from a vehicle, and elect not to unload the remaining deliveries, the remaining deliveries are automatically un-assigned from the vehicle. For more information, see Unloading a Vehicle.
