Object documentation Configuration Folder Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definition

Folder in which all objects that describe a product or project in a specific life-cycle phase are collected.

Use

You group different objects (such as documents, materials, BOMs and so on) for a consistent configuration in a configuration folder.

In contrast to a baseline, no specific processing status for the object is kept in the configuration folder. However, the configuration folder serves as a template for the generation of a baseline.

Structure

A configuration folder is uniquely identified by the following data:

Objects

The controlled object is the object for the configuration folder. For example, this can be a material or a project definition. You enter the controlled object on the ConFold tab page.

See: Controlled Objects

You can assign any number of additional objects to the controlled object that describe the product or project in more detail, such as BOMs, documents and WBS elements. These are saved in a hierarchical structure.

See: Structure of a Configuration Folder or Baseline

Detail and Management Data

You can find the status of a configuration folder on the ConfFold tab page.

See: Status Management in Configuration Management

Here you can enter text to document the editing process of the configuration folder.

With accompanying documents, you can comprehensively document the editing processes of a configuration folder.

In the recipient list, you enter the people or organizational units to which you want to send the folder.

Caution

In Release 4.6C the recipient list can only be used in the life-cycle phases for collaborative engineering (CEP).
