Procedure documentation Editing Materials for Wastes Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

For each waste that you want to use in Waste Management, you must create a material in Materials Management. You can store all the logistics data required with the material.

Note

You should generally create new materials for wastes, even when a material (a product, for example) that already exists in the system becomes a waste (see Disposal Processing for Existing Materials).

This procedure describes how you create and change a material for a waste.

Procedure

Creating Materials

...

       1.      In the Waste Management menu, choose Master Data ® Materials ® Create ® Immediately.

       2.      Enter data as required and save your entries.

Note

Enter all units of measure that you need for the waste as alternative units of measure under This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Additional Data on the Units of measure tab page. You can only use these units of measure in Waste Management.

Caution

For wastes, you can only use the material types that you have marked as waste-relevant in the IMG activity Specify Waste-Relevant Material Types in Customizing for Waste Management.

Recommendation

We recommend that you use your own material type for wastes for the following reasons:

·         Your own material type for wastes makes it easier to explicitly separate the stock quantities from wastes and other materials. If you use the SAP Purchasing component, for example, an on-order stock is created. For wastes, however, you need to order the disposal (with reference to a material, namely the waste) rather than a material. Your own material type for wastes makes it easier to explicitly separate these on-order stocks.

·         For wastes, no calculation of values can take place. Here too, your own material type for wastes makes it easier to explicitly delimit wastes from other materials.

·         Your own material type for wastes makes data entry easier, since you can define the views to be edited.

·         You can use your own material type to exclude wastes, for example, from the normal materials planning process.

Changing Materials

...

       1.      In the Waste Management menu, choose Master Data ® Materials ® Change ® Immediately.

       2.      Enter data as required and save your entries.
