Generating Content from SAP BW for the Enterprise Portal

The following sections will explain which tools support you with the integration of SAP BW and SAP EP.

Features

As author, you generate BW reports within SAP BW with the help of tools from the BW Business Explorer (BEx):

·        BEx Web Applications are created with the BEx Web Application Designer. For more information, see Integration Functions in the Web Application Designer.

·        Queries that are also used in BEx Web applications can be created with the BEx Query Designer. You can find more information under Integration Functions in the Query Designer.

·        Precalculated documents and links to BEx Web applications or queries in Knowledge Management are generated with the BEx Broadcaster. You can find more information under Integration Functions in the BEx Broadcaster.

·        The BEx Analyzer is the platform for creating and editing BW workbooks. You can find more information under Integration Functions in the BEx Analyzer.

The Portal Content Studio is a tool within the portal that enables manual inclusion of content from SAP BW as well as specific setting of properties (for example for the portal cache). Portal objects created in the Business Explorer can be edited with the Portal Content Studio. You can find more information under Integration Using the Portal Content Studio.

When you create iViews, they receive an iView ID. This iView ID has to be unique within a folder in the Portal Catalog. In contrast to SAP EP 5.0, in SAP EP 6.0 the iView ID no longer has to be globally unique within the Enterprise Portal.

The KM Content from the role Content Administration of SAP Enterprise Portal is the central environment in the Enterprise Portal to create and manage content in Knowledge Management. In KM content you get access to various BW documents in Knowledge Management. For more information, see Integration Using KM Content.

Furthermore, you can integrate content from SAP BW into the Enterprise Portal using Role Upload. For more information, see Integration Using Role Upload.

Using the two Web items Role Menu and Alert Monitor, you can call content from SAP BW directly form a BEx Web application that you have integrated into the portal as an iView. For more information, see Integration Using the Role Menus and the Alert Monitor.
