Function documentation Additional Functions in InfoCube Maintenance Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Documents

This function allows you to display, create or change documents for InfoCubes.

See also: Structure linkDocuments.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Tree Display

Use this function to display, in a clear tree structure, all the settings for an InfoCube that have been made in InfoCube maintenance. The InfoCube is output in a hierarchical tree display with its dimensions and InfoObjects.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Version Comparison

You can use this function to compare the following InfoCube versions with regard to changes in the InfoCube maintenance:

·        the active and modified versions of an InfoCube

·        the active and Content versions of an InfoCube

·        the modified and Content versions of an InfoCube

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Transport Connection

You can choose and transport InfoCubes. All those BW objects that are needed to ensure a consistent status in the target system are collected automatically.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Where-Used List

You can determine which other objects in BW can use a specific InfoCube.

You can also determine the consequences of making a particular change to an InfoCube and whether the change is permitted at the moment.

Business Content

In InfoCubes from Business Content, you can use this function to jump to the transaction to transfer the business content, to copy the InfoCube and to compare the InfoCube with the customer version. For more information, see Structure linkBusiness Content (Versions).

Navigational Attributes

A navigation attribute that has been created in the InfoObject maintenance for a characteristic can be switched on in the InfoCube. With the default setting, they are switched off in order to implicitly include as few attributes as possible in the InfoCube. See also Performance of Navigation Attributes in Queries and Input Help.

Note that you can subsequently create or activate navigation attributes in the InfoCube at any time. However, once you have activated an attribute, you are no longer able to deactivate it (because of any aggregates or selection variables that may have been defined).

Units

By clicking a pushbutton on the key figures screen, you can display the units contained in the InfoCube. Units are not defined, but result from data from the transferred key figures.

Analyzing InfoCubes

You get to the analysis and repair environment by choosing Edit from the main menu. You can use the analysis and repair environment to check the consistency of your InfoCube.

See Structure linkAnalysis and Repair Environment

Structure-Specific Properties of the InfoObject

Using Extras in the main menu, you can assign InfoObjects specific properties that are valid only in the InfoCube you are currently processing.

These settings correspond for the most part to the settings that you can make globally for an InfoObject. For characteristics, these are Display, Text Type, Selection and Filter Value Selection upon Query Execution. See also the corresponding section in Tab Page: Business Explorer.

You are also able to specify constants for characteristics:

A fixed value is assigned to a characteristic when you assign a constant. This means that the characteristic is available on the database (for verifications, for example) but is no longer displayed in the query (no aggregation / drilldown is possible for this characteristic).

It is particularly useful to assign constants for compound characteristics.

Example

Example 1:

The storage location characteristic is compounded with the plant characteristic. If only one plant is ever run within the application, you can assign a constant to the plant. The verification for the storage-location master table runs correctly with this value for the plant. In the query, however, only the storage location appears as a characteristic.

Example 2:

For an InfoProvider, you make the setting that only the constant 2005 appears for the year. In a query on a MultiProvider that contains this InfoProvider, the InfoProvider is disregarded if the selection is for year 2004. Query performance is improved in this way as the system knows from the outset that it does not have to search for any records.

Special case:

If the constant SPACE (type CHAR) or 00..0 (type NUMC) is assigned to the characteristic, specify the character # in the first position.

For key figures, the settings Decimal Places and Display are available. See also the corresponding section in Tab Page: Additional Properties.

Info Functions

Various information functions are available referring to the status of the InfoCube:

·        The log display for the save, activation and deletion runs of the InfoCube,

·        The InfoCube status in the ABAP/4 Dictionary and on the database,

·        a function for displaying the raw data (browser) for the data saved in the InfoCube

·        The current system settings,

·        The permitted limits in the InfoCube,

·        The object catalog entry.

·        Analysis of data consistency of the InfoCube

Special Functions

Navigation to InfoObject Maintenance:Pushbuttons allow you to create, display, and change individual InfoObjects. Note that changes to InfoObjects apply to all the places where the InfoObject is used (that means also in other InfoCubes)!

Undo change: This function resets the InfoCube to the active version, meaning that the changes that were made the last time data was saved, are undone.

Display active / SAP version: When you are editing the InfoCube, you can display its active version, or the version delivered by SAP (if it exists).

Performance Settings:

·        DB Save Parameters

·        Partitioning

·        Non-Cumulative Parameter

Assigning a Function Module

You load data from external sources by assigning a function module to an InfoCube. The function module is called when the data is loaded. It supplies the data temporarily. The function can be called from the context menu using Additional Characteristics.
