Personalization in BEx 

Use

This function enables users to fill variables with user-specific values, to save user-specific accesses to BW objects for the history view in the BEx Open dialog box, and to save user-specific start views for Web applications.

Integration

The personalized data is stored in different ODS objects, according to the personalization area.

·        User-specific variable values are stored in the ODS object 0Pers_VAR.

·        Personalized data for the history view is stored in the ODS object 0Pers_BOD.

·        Personalized start views for the Web application is stored in the ODS object 0Pers_WTE.

You manage ODS objects in the Administrator Workbench.

Prerequisites

...

·        You have to activate personalization in Customizing before you can use it. See the implementation guide (IMG) for the Business Information Warehouse (SAP Customizing  Implementation Guide ®  SAP NetWeaver ® SAP Business Information Warehouse ®  Reporting-relevant Settings ®  General Reporting Settings ®  Activate Personalization in BEx).

Once you activated personalization in the IMG of the Business Information Warehouse you can no longer deactivate it.

·        Ensure that the system has been set to Changeable by the system administrator. This is important because objects are generated in personalization. See also Transport System.

·        In order to personalize start views for Web applications, you also have to activate the context menu entry Personalize Web Page in the Web Application Designer. See Personalizing Start Views of Web Applications.

Features

Personalization in BEx covers the following areas:

·        When personalizing variables you assign a permanent user-specific value to the variables that cannot be changed in query navigation.

Variables can be personalized as follows:

-         By the user at runtime. See also Personalizing Variables in Web Applications and Personalizing Variables in the BEx Analyzer.

-         By the administrator by loading files or using generic DataSources (see Customizing of Extractors under the SAP Easy Access Menu BW Administration ® Administrator Workbench ® Source Systems ® Source system context menu ® Customizing for the Extractors..., node Generic DataSources).

-         By using the supplied DataSources within the framework of Business Content (see the documentation, for example, from the Financials area of BI Content: BI Content  ® Financials ® Web Cockpits Financials ® Queries ® Personalization of Characteristic Values in BW (Web Cockpit) ).

·        By personalizing the history view in the BEx Open Dialog you can select BW objects from those that you opened recently (such as queriesand Web templates) from your history.

You activate personalization of the history view in the BEx Open dialog in Customizing and do not need to make any additional settings.

·        By personalizing the start views of Web applications, you can save a user-specific navigational state in Web applications as a personalized start view of the Web application.
