Drag&Relate Technology 

At the heart of SAP Unification Server is the patented technology which enables the navigation technique of Drag&Relate™.

Drag&Relate™ goes beyond the point-and-click metaphor of hypertext links. Rather than clicking to access static links, users drag visual elements representing data and drop them onto other such elements, interrelating the data to create queries dynamically.

A unifier project is enabled with Drag&Relate™ navigation. At the back end, the user's Drag&Relate action is launching sophisticated queries on the fly that SAP Unification Server handles. The unifier project features a repository of metadata it has extracted from the database, an OLE DB provider, a security mechanism that supports LDAP-based directory servers, and Active Server Pages which, running on the Microsoft(R) Internet Information Server, retrieve XML and display results in HTML.

Its open architecture, supported by utilities and a full API set, lets administrators and developers customize and extend Unifier projects.
