Editing System Landscape Files
This procedure describes how to create a new or edit an existing system landscape file for your Enterprise Portal. After you have edited the file on your local drive, it has to be uploaded into the Portal Content Directory (PCD) so that it will not be overwritten during future upgrades, and so that it is visible to all Portal Servers in a distributed environment.
·
You have checked that the
Portal Content Directory (PCD) has been copied to a location outside of the
servlet engine directory, otherwise the PCD will also be overwritten when you
reinstall the Java iView Runtime. See
Checking the Location
of the PCD.
· You have administrator rights in the portal.
...
1. In the top-level navigation, choose System Configuration ® System Landscape.
The System Landscape Cockpit is displayed.
Under Landscape Upload Status in the list of functions the left-hand side, you can check whether a system landscape file already exists in the PCD
2. If you are creating a system landscape file for the first time (the file is not already in the PCD), copy the template for the file you wish to edit from the Java iView Runtime to your local drive.
|
Name of file |
Location of template |
Location of XML schema |
|
systems.xml |
<java_iview_runtime>\web-inf\plug-ins\portal\services\landscape\xml |

3. If the file already exists in the PCD, download it to your local drive by choosing Download from Portal in the list of functions on the left-hand side and choosing the file you wish to edit in the view area on the right-hand side.
4. Edit the file on your local drive as required.
5. Upload the file into the PCD by choosing Upload to Portal in the list of functions on the left-hand side, browsing to your file in the view area on the right-hand side, and choosing Upload.
6. Under Landscape Upload Status in the list of functions on the left-hand side, choose Refresh.
Under the file you have just uploaded you will see the message: Runtime & PCD persistence are not synchronized. This means that the file is not yet active in the portal system.
7. To activate your file in the portal system, choose Refresh System Landscape.
