Form-Based Logon

Use

If you have configured your Enterprise Portal for authentication using user ID and password (default configuration), when users log on they will receive a Basic Authentication dialog box prompting them for their user ID and password. You can also configure the portal to use form-based logon. This means that the portal displays a HTML dialog in the browser instead of the Basic Authentication dialog box.

Features

You can customize the form-based logon to reflect your company’s branding or other special requirements. The dialog is located at Inetpub\wwwroot\SAPPortal\FormLogon.asp.

Activities

To configure the Enterprise Portal for form-based logon:

  1. Log on to the portal as an administrator
  2. Choose System Configuration ® User Management Configuration.
  3. Choose the Authentication Server tab.
  4. Set the Form Login indicator.
  5. Restart the portal Web server (IIS) and the Java servlet engine.

Now all users logging on to the portal will be displayed a HTML dialog in the browser asking them for their user ID and password.
