Defining User Repository to Be Used for Authentication

Use

In this step, you define the repository of user data against which users are authenticated as they log on to the portal.

Prerequisites

You have administrator rights in the portal.

You have set up a corporate LDAP directory in your system landscape that contains the user data for portal users.

Procedure

...

      1.      Start the configuration tool by choosing System Configuration ® User Management Configuration.

If you are calling the configuration tool from the Unification Server, choose Unification Server  ® <Unifier Project> ® User Management ® Security & Configuration

      2.      Choose the Authentication Server tab.

      3.      In User Authentication Type select how users are authenticated as they log on to the portal. You have the following options:

·        LDAP: Users are authenticated against the corporate LDAP directory. For details, see Configuring the Portal for Authentication against LDAP Directory.

·        NT: Users are authenticated against the NT domain controller. For details, see Configuring the Portal for Windows Authentication.

·        SAP-based System: Users are authenticated against an SAP R/3 System. For details, see Configuring the Portal for SAP R/3 Authentication.

·        External: Users are authenticated using Netegrity SiteMinder or any similar external product. For details, see Configuring the Portal for Netegrity SiteMinder Authentication.

      4.      When you have filled all the fields, choose Apply.

You need to restart the portal Web server (Microsoft Internet Information Server) and the Java servlet engine for your changes to take effect. However, do not restart these until you have completed all the tabs of the configuration tool.

Result

The Enterprise Portal authenticates users against this user repository when they log on to the portal.
