The standard search provides a fixed arrangement of search fields that the user cannot change. The advanced search provides selectable search criteria and includes the use of saved searches.
You can specify whether you want to use the standard search or the advanced search. You do this in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management
under .
During a lean search, the system determines only the required data and does not store any data. It only determines the object attributes that are relevant for the search result list. This enables a faster search and faster processing times when working with the result list. The remaining attributes are determined when the object is used, for example, when the object is opened in the display mode or in the edit mode.
You can define whether the inbox searches are performed asynchronously in the background, allowing the user to continue working while a search is performed. The asynchronous search is only available in combination with the lean search.
Note
The asynchronous search is not available for business roles with the profile type CRM WebClient Business Role
.
You can define whether the lean search and the asynchronous search are used. You do this in the Customizing activity Define Inbox Profiles
.
In case of the inbox search using the search criterion Assigned To
, you can define whether the partner function assignments for business transactions from the corresponding inbox Customizing are used, or alternatively the generic partner function assignments from the SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) system. For more information, see the Customizing activity Define Inbox Profiles
.
You can create predefined search queries that appear as selection criteria in the Quick Search
field. For example, you can define a search that agents can use to retrieve all high-priority items. For more information, see Define Quick Searches.
Quick searches are assigned to business roles through the inbox profile.
The saved searches function is only available in the advanced search. Saved searches are user-defined.
The following attribute validity check prevents unclear search results:
If a main category cannot be combined with a selected search attribute, the main category is excluded from the search. For example, a search involving the main category E-Mail
in combination with the Checklist ID
search attribute is not valid, and the search is not performed.
This system behavior also applies if only one main category has been selected or if no main category has been selected. In the latter situation, the validity check is performed for all main categories that are defined for the corresponding inbox profile in Customizing, and the search is performed for all main categories that have passed the validity check.
A search processing log consolidates various detailed search messages, such as which search attribute is not supported by which main category, in a structured way. The processing log can be accessed using a corresponding button in the result toolbar.
In addition to the entries in the processing log, the following general messages are displayed on the UI, as appropriate:
Search has been only partially performed
Search could not be performed
This enables the user to understand the search behavior and to tailor future searches accordingly, or to contact the system administrator, as required.
The accelerated inbox search based on SAP HANA provides improved search performance and additional functions, such as the Inbox Work Distribution
dashboard (SAP BusinessObjects) that you can use for monitoring and analysis purposes. For more information, see Accelerated Inbox Search.
