If you are carrying out segmentation for a high data volume (approximately 500,000 business partners or more), special functions for segmenting a large number of business partners are available.

Prerequisites

  • You have installed SAP NetWeaver Search and Classification (TREX).

  • You have activated the business function High-Volume Marketing (CRM_MKT_HVS).

Features

  • Attribute lists with the category High Volume Segmentation

    When segmenting a high data volume, you can only use attribute lists with the category High Volume Segmentation.

  • Segmentation of marketing prospects

    In addition to business partners and products, you can also segment marketing prospects. However, you cannot combine business partners and marketing prospects within a segment or target group.

  • Segmentation based on relationships

    Segmentation based on relationships is possible in high volume segmentation for the relationship Is Contact Person For (relationship type BUR001) only.

  • Segmentation basis

    The segmentation basis is not a static list of business partners but rather a combination of filters, which can be modeled and saved just like a segment. This ensures that when modeling target groups, you do not work with an outdated list of business partners as your segmentation basis, but rather the number of business partners available for modeling is restricted for the user by using filters.

    Use the report CRM_MKTTG_MGR_GEN_CHM_HV to generate segmentation bases with end customers for Partners. This report generates a segmentation basis with the filter combinations required. For more information, see SAP Note 1687319Information published on SAP site.

  • File-based segmentation

    If you are working with a data volume of more than 500,000 business partners and, for example, would like to use comprehensive data from SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse as the basis for the segmentation, you should create a CSV file and make it available for segmentation as a data source with the origin type File Import. You can also use an externally created CSV file as a data source. For more information about the exact procedure, see File-Based Segmentation.

  • Data sources

    For segmentation with high data volume, the following origin types are possible for data sources:

    • Attribute set

    • InfoSet

    • File import (CSV file)

      Note that you can create up to 10 different data sources of this origin type.

    If you use TREX in SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator 7.20, you also have the option to summate key figures for data sources with high volumes of data. For more information, see Summating Key Figures in Data Sources (TREX).

  • Delta handling for attributes with fast find

    When performing business partner segmentation for a very large number of business partners, you do not want to have to load the business partner data and related marketing attributes to SAP NetWeaver Search and Classification (TREX) each time. Once you have performed the initial upload, the delta handling function allows you to upload only the modified data to the TREX server at regular intervals (or to trigger it manually).   • Scheduling for archiving segmentation models

    For segmentation models with the usage High Volume Segmentation, it is possible to specify an archiving date, using the To Be Archived From field.

    On the date you specified, the segmentation model is included in the archiving write program (system status Archived), and is no longer visible on the user interface. Using the deletion program, the segmentation model is then deleted from the database. For more information, see Archiving Segmentation Elements.
