Function documentationLaunching Service Requests from Back-End Systems

Service requests serve as a means of communication between SAP systems (back-end systems) and Interaction Centers. Users can launch service requests either in certain transactions or from the back-end systems in activated transactions direct.

The ability to launch a service request from a transaction means that an agent in an SAP system, such as an accountant, who comes across an exception in his daily work, can forward details of this exception to a service agent in the Accounting Interaction Center for resolution.

When a user launches a service request from a transaction, the back-end system automatically fills the service request fields with contextual information and adds links with relevant objects in the back-end system (see Linking of Objects). This function ensures a smooth transfer of information and enables more direct and efficient communication.

In the standard system, the back-end system can transfer the following information direct to the service request, without repeated input from the user in the back-end system:

Service Request Field

Source Data

Description

Description of the current transaction code in the back-end system

Reporter

The current user in the back-end system

Customer

Retrieved from the back-end system, and provided if the current transaction allows this.

Back-End Client, under Organizational Data

Retrieved and provided from the back-end system

You can define default values for the specified fields in Customizing of Cross-Application Components under Start of the navigation path Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications Next navigation step Shared Services Framework Next navigation step Integration with SAP CRM Next navigation step Integration with Service Request Next navigation step Processing Next navigation step Determine Service Request Attributes from Application Context End of the navigation path.

Note Note

If you define a target value for the Description, this value may overwrite the description of the current transaction code in the back-end system.

End of the note.

Customizing Source and Target Field Values:

Using Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) in the back-end systems you can modify the data transfer from source fields in the back-end system to the target fields in the service request. This is important in those circumstances where you need to change this context information by setting values expected in the CRM UI. Additionally, you can define your own source fields. For additional information about the source fields and predefinition of the target fields, see Customizing of the back-end systems.

Prerequisites

You have enabled manual creation of service requests for your chosen transactions in the back-end systems.

Before a user in a back-end system can launch a service request, he must have been assigned the role SSF_OCCUSER. For further information, see Users and Roles in SAP ERP and SAP CRM.

If you want to create service requests in Financial Accounting (FI) or in Controlling (CO), you have activated the following business function in SAP ERP:FI, Enablement for Financial Shared Services (FIN_SSC_AIC_1)
