  1. Start Legal Case Management by choosing transaction SCASE; alternatively, in the user menu choose   Case Management Administration   Case Management  . The Case Management screen appears.

The functions for Legal Case Management are displayed as separate subcomponents.

  2. To set a legal hold on a BOR object, first select a legal case (for documentation on the Case Search step, see Case Management). In the middle screen area, choose   Object Type   BOR Objects  . Similarly, choose   Object Type   ArchiveLink Documents   to set a legal hold on an ArchiveLink document.

  3. Choose the Add Objects pushbutton. Select a Logical System and confirm your entries.

  4. If you are looking for BOR objects, the Repository Information System: Find Business Objects window appears. If you are looking for ArchiveLink documents, the ArchiveLink Document Finder window appears. Enter the search criteria for the required objects and confirm your selection. The system displays the reference to the BOR object or ArchiveLink document in the table in the middle screen area.

  5. Save the legal case to persist the new references.

Caution Caution

Set legal holds do not prevent the deletion of BOR objects in the database.

End of the caution.

Note Note

If a BOR object that has not been archived yet is added to a legal case, and is then archived, the legal hold on this BOR object is set in the storage system at the same time as the deletion program for the archiving session. Use the report ARC_LHM_PROPAGATE_LEGAL_HOLD in transaction SA38 to assign a legal hold to archived BOR objects that have been added to a legal case (in ILM-certified storage systems). You can also schedule the report as a periodic background job. Use the report ARLINK_LHM_PROPAGATE_LEGAL_HOLD to set a legal hold for ArchiveLink documents. As a result, a legal hold is also set for attachments that are linked to a BOR object that has been added to a legal case.

End of the note.
