Function documentationProcessing Grid Products in the Sales Order

This function supports you in the processing of grid products in the sales order. Grid products are products with a maximum of three characteristics that belong together, such as size and color, and therefore represent a special kind of configurable product. Sport shoes that are available in different sizes and colors are a simple example of a grid product.

When you enter a grid product in the sales order, the Grid assignment block is automatically available in the CRM WebClient UI. This replaces the Configuration assignment block for conventional configurable products.

After you have entered the requested quantities in the grid and have chosen Apply, the system automatically creates subitems for these product variants.

This means that the processing of order items is simplified for easily configurable products, and you avoid the complex handling of configurable products - which would burden the system unnecessarily.

As a field sales representative, you can thereby quickly and easily create order items for this special product category.

For more information about grid products and master data, see SAP Library for SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) at Start of the navigation path Connection to Other Components Next navigation step AFS Connectivity with SAP SCM and SAP CRM End of the navigation path.

Prerequisites

The product is marked as a grid product in the product master data for SAP CRM, that is unlike regular configurable products, the value G must be set in table COMM_PRODUCT, field CONFIG. The knowledge base required for the Configuration Engine must be set up for this.

Features

When you enter grid products, the system automatically finds the possible product variants, which are displayed in a grid. You can enter the required quantities for each product variant, that is the combination of size and color, in the editable input fields. You can control the grid display, and display information about the availability and price of the product. To do this, choose the corresponding pushbuttons.

When you have confirmed the entered quantities, the corresponding subitems are created. All generated subitems can only be delivered on the delivery date of the higher-level item.

The subitems refer to the accompanying grid product, via the field Higher-Level Item. If the grid comprises several columns and rows, the number of subitems can be very high, and the display of the items can become very complex. Therefore, you can use a filter to hide the subitems and only have the higher-level items displayed.

Activities

  • Enter a grid product.

  • Switch to the Grid assignment block.

  • Enter the required quantities for the various combinations of characteristics. You can either enter the quantities directly in the grid, or the system can calculate them automatically and distribute them to the possible product variants, when you select the Distribute pushbutton. To do this, you must have entered the quantities to be distributed at item level, which are then displayed as default values in the grid view.

    Note Note

The distribution profile must be specified in the SAP ECC system, and be available in SAP CRM as well as in the Configuration Engine. You can adjust the distribution logic to meet your requirements. Definition of the distribution logic takes place in SAP ECC, and is transferred to the knowledge base of the Configuration Engine.

    End of the note.
  • Use Apply to confirm the quantities in the grid.

  • The system finds the corresponding product variants and creates the subitems for them.
