Procedure documentation Configuring Strategic Service Planning Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this procedure to define future profitability targets for your area of management responsibility and to communicate these to their reporting managers. Managers can closely align the operational activities of their organizational areas with the strategic goals of the service organization as a whole.

Caution

This procedure is not a ready-to-run process that you can use in a scenario.

At present, only contract-based business is supported. Strategic Service Planning only includes costs and revenues from internal orders created for service contracts. You need a service contract as a predecessor document for your service orders and service confirmations.

The revenue from a service contract is currently allocated to the start period of the contract for reporting purposes and not into each period according to the contract terms.

Prerequisites

SAP delivers a template to help configure customer-specific planning and customers must set up the custom planning application to plan for the service business. The planning objects of the Strategic Service Planning can only be used as templates and not as ready-to-run objects for the customer's planning scenario.

Configuring the Standard Demo in BI-BPS

The content delivered for BI BPS is not a ready-to-run process. The process to activate content in the prior step is required for your particular installation and requires a custom planning scenario. The demo described below relies on a standard demo and incorporates flat file data loaded during the configuration process, not the data you load from the prior steps.
